Massive Success- Parkour, Pick Up & Pizza Day

On Thursday 16th August 2018, UC Crew hosted a Parkour, Pick Up & Pizza Day with young people and families across St Helens.

The event was part of our Youth Social Action project funded by Hill Dickinson Solicitors, the #Iwill Campaign and the Community Foundation of Merseyside. Our youth social action projects main aims are to give young people the opportunity to help their local community in a fun, rewarding, beneficial and youth led way.

We collected over twenty bags of rubbish at Sherdley Park, St Helens and visited Pizza Hut as a team reward, this was then followed by a Break Dancing & parkour photoshoot in the evening at Sutton Leisure Centre.

UC Crew visit Stuttgart, Germany 2018

UC Crew visited Stuttgart, Germany for the Stuttgart’s International Town Twinning and Sister Cities Cultural event. But also to celebrate the town twinning of St Helens and Stuttgart, as well as promote the 150th Birthday of St Helens as a borough.

UC Crew had a wonderful time in Stuttgart, as we performed three shows across the city promoting St Helens Culture in the form of a choreographed Break Dancing show. Residents and tourists enjoyed our performance and was happy to praise us and ask questions.
We visited two local dance schools, to meet young dancers so that we could share our skills/knowledge but also be inspired by their style and cultural influence. We have create strong links with a dance school, of which we will explore the possibility or regular youth exchanges and joint events.

We have visited Stuttgart’s tourist attractions to learn about Stuttgart’s past, present and future. This included Mercedes Museum, an authentic German cuisine restaurant and Stuttgart’s bouldering centre. Experiencing the tourist’s attractions is aiding us in promoting that St Helens residents should visit Stuttgart as a tourist destination to learn about the joint heritage, Stuttgart’s achievements, German culture and active lifestyles.

We was able to interact with many residents from Stuttgart and German tourists in the International Hostel and when performing across Stuttgart. The people of Stuttgart made us feel welcome and accepted, we are so please to be European and share our important town twinning connection with Stuttgart.
